BACKSTORY.

Elura is a fourth-generation entrepreneur, a lawyer, flutist, and a New Yorker.

As an attorney, Elura practiced law in the overworked-underpaid world of public interest, practicing as a trial lawyer in the child abuse and neglect division of NYC's Administration for Children's Services. Next, she joined the world of pinstripe-clad power lawyers and practiced commercial litigation and family law for a large corporate law firm. In 2002, she founded Lawyer Up, a full-spectrum educational company serving law students and professionals.

Elura has brought law to the masses in several books, including How To Talk To Your Lawyer, and the Legalese to English series of law-school study guides.

In 2013, Elura starred in the reality series, Staten Island Law, on the Oprah Winfrey Network, has since made numerous television and radio appearances, and regularly provides legal analysis on Fox News, HLN, HuffPost Live, and Sirius Satellite Radio.

Elura lives with her husband and two children in New Jersey.  She also serves as a board member of several charitable organizations.  Elura is a lover of audiobooks, Mozart, and prison movies, and a hater of crawling plants, war documentaries and raisins.
